Our Story

The Alongsider Collective grew out of years of shared experience walking with leaders in a variety of communities, cultures, and settings.

Along the way, we encountered good-hearted leaders carrying big visions for their organizations and communities, but often without the relationships, support networks, practical tools, or outside perspective needed to see those visions become reality.

We also noticed that leaders and organizations can become so immersed in the demands of their work that they have little opportunity to step back, learn from others, strengthen relationships, or consider new approaches.

But we have also seen another possibility. When leaders have trusted people walking alongside them, healthy community around them, practical leadership tools available to them, and space to better understand who they are and how they are uniquely equipped to lead, something changes. Leaders grow. Relationships strengthen. Vision becomes clearer. And the impact of their leadership can extend far beyond themselves.

The Alongsider Collective grew from a simple conviction: good-hearted leaders doing hard things shouldn’t have to do them alone.

Vision

A world where good-hearted leaders are strengthened to flourish, multiply their influence, and bring lasting transformation to the people and places they serve.

Purpose

We exist to strengthen leaders through relationships that cultivate identity, healthy leadership, purposeful action, and multiplication.

Mission

We come alongside leaders, helping them grow personally, lead relationally, navigate difficult seasons, and multiply their investment in others.

What Does the Collective Seek to Accomplish?

  1. Strengthen Identity: Help leaders understand who they are apart from position, performance, or role.
  2. Cultivate Healthy Leaders: Equip leaders with practical tools for healthy relationships, communication, conflict, trust, and personal growth.
  3. Create Space for Discernment: Help leaders slow down, listen deeply, recognize what is happening within and around them, and identify faithful next steps.
  4. Walk Alongside Leaders in Hard Places: Provide relational support, encouragement, coaching, and community for people carrying significant leadership responsibility.
  5. Multiply Alongsiders: Develop leaders who intentionally invest what they have received into others, who in turn invest in others.

Our Values

  • Listen Before We Lead: We listen to God, our own hearts, and others before deciding how to respond.
  • Lead from Identity: We help people know who they are and live and lead from identity rather than fear, performance, or the expectations of others.
  • Tend the Heart: We pay attention to our inner lives because who we are becoming matters as much as what we accomplish.
  • Join What Is Already Happening: We look for where God is already at work and humbly join in rather than assuming we need to initiate or control it.
  • Practice Presence: We show up, stay present, and walk alongside people, especially in the hard places of life and leadership.
  • Invest in the Fourth Generation: We honor those who invested in us by investing in others, with an eye toward the people they will one day invest in.
